I live in suburban Ohio - the land of Wal Mart and lawn chemicals, anywhere USA. My work utilizes the most abundant resource available- trash.
Using Liquid Light photo emulsion, I print black and white photographs on product boxes and recycled papers. The print is processed with the traditional black and white darkroom method. The materials all come from my daily life: my kitchen, my part-time job, etc. I spent several years documenting the rape of the landscape and homogenization of American culture. I became immersed in this blasphemy and photographed the same things over and over again- tree stumps, tire tracks, and cul-de-sac Tyvek monsters. The boxes piled up like bricks and each precious image became just one of thousands. I wore myself out reacting to the ignorance. During this process I also took tree portraits to honor the survivors left standing.
